Simhastha work deadline April 2027

In the backdrop of the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela, the ongoing development works in Nashik-Trimbakeshwar will now be time-bound. The deadline for completing all the works related to the Kumbh Mela has been fixed by April 2027. Sources informed that a policy will be adopted to put the financial burden of the work that remains incomplete after this deadline on the concerned department. Therefore, the administrative system has become alert to complete the works on time.

Preparations are underway for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Nashik-Trimbakeshwar on the lines of Prayagraj. It is estimated that ten times more devotees will come to Nashik this year compared to the last Simhastha. Accordingly, large-scale development works have been undertaken through various departments.

These include works on 28 roads in Nashik city, sewage drainage projects in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar to ensure clean and uninterrupted flow of the Godavari river, CCTV system, Trimbak-Pahine-Ghoti four-laning, Nashik-Trimbak road expansion, Dwarka Circle Underpass, Parikrama Marg, Ghats on Godavari, Trimbakeshwar Drinking Water Scheme, Sadhugram in Tapovan, development of pilgrimage sites, Ojar Airport Terminal expansion, renovation of various railway stations, Ramkal Path and Trimbakeshwar Darshan Path etc.

Around 350 works are underway in various pilgrimage sites in the state including Nashik-Trimbakeshwar. However, some works are getting delayed due to delay in availability of funds, hurdles in the tender process and technical reasons. The works are being continuously reviewed by various committees from the ministry level.

Considering the possibility of a demand for an extension, the deadline of April 2027 is being strictly enforced. The funds for the works left incomplete after the deadline or the payments to the relevant contractors will have to be borne by the respective department. Therefore, there is a possibility of financial burden on the departments that do not complete the work on time.
